StarElizabeth on 37th - 11/21/15

We actually had their first reservation, but at that time of the year, it was already dark. They have herb gardens in front of the restaurant, but it was too dark to appreciate.   Picture of the dining room - as I said, we had the first reservation. Very nice ambiance... and excellent butternut squash soup! (Everything else was good, too.)

Savannah Historic District Star   We did the   Nice way to get an overview of the city.

This is the front of the house Jim lived in in the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil story.       The church steeple where the feather started from in the Forrest Gump movie.

Johnny Mercer Statue - Look him up. Excellent music.   Leopold's ice cream. We were told they were ranked #1 ice cream on some list. We didn't need too much encouragement to try ice cream, so we found the parlor - a Savannah Tradition.   Ice cream was good, but there were movie posters and memorabilia all over the parlor. Turns out, one of the brothers went to Hollywood and became a producer - this movie poster (among others) had - Executive Producer Stratton Leopold

You can't go to Savannah with out visiting the waterfront
fountain
Cool fountain   Taffyyyyyyyy - very cool, very old machine. It mesmerized me.   The view from our riverboat we were about to take a ride on.

Talmadge Memorial Bridge, Savannah   The Waving Girl statue. I heard 3 versions of the story of her and her dog in the short time we were there.   This was the boat we were on.

The cobblestone streets.... make sure your shock absorbers work. The bridge is what used to lead from one warehouse to another.   We ate in the old cotton exchange. Good restaurant.   As we were walking back to the car, a HUGE barge was coming through.
